Human Dumbbells: This is just plain old stupid

Getting people motivated to work out is one of the biggest challenges of any fitness professional. Frankly, coming up with effective workouts that burn fat, build muscle and improve athletic performance is easy.  Getting men and women to actually do the workouts on a regular basis and for the time necessary to see results is the hard part.

In an attempt to motivate people, the fitness industry tries to come up with innovative ways to motivate the unfit.  THIS IS A HUGE MISTAKE! There are already enough tried, tested and proven methods for getting fit, lean and attractive. The last thing we need is another gimmick!

For example, why take a great activity like boxing and screw it up by setting it to electronic music and calling it jazzer-box or some other ridiculous name.  Want to get fit like a boxer, train like a boxer!  (And there are plenty of ways to do this correctly without getting hit in the face!)

Now don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of stupid ideas out there when it come to motivating the unmotivated.  But I must say I think this idea of Human Dumbbells really takes the cake.
