Time To Dust Off The Dumbbells For A Great Workout

Most people I know have bought some type of exercise equipment at one time or another. You probably have some of it collecting dust somewhere in your basement, garage or spare room. And now that economic times are tough many ex-gym members are eying up that forgotten equipment and wondering, “Can I get just as good a workout at home as in the gym?”

Here’s the good news…

If you have a pair of dumbbells hidden somewhere, dust them off and get a great at home dumbbell workout! What you’ll find is, dumbbells are a great way to get a full body workout. And as far as weighted exercise goes, they are the most versatile, useful and effective pieces of equipment you can use.

Here is a workout I found online to show my point…

How can we make this workout better?

Well, I would like to see some full body, explosive exercises like the Clean & Press, Snatch and Dumbbell Swing. (I also like to focus my workout structure on MOVEMENTS, not the muscles the exercise workoutsbut I know this is a hard habit to break). But all in all this is a pretty standard and effective dumbbell workout. I also liked to see mixing in some predominately bodyweight exercises into the mix, like I do in Gladiator Body Workout.

The only problem is, to reach (or even exceed), your fitness, fat loss and physique building goals you can’t use just ONE workout. What you really need to reach your goals is a SERIES of dumbbell workouts that progressively improve fitness, burn fat and build an athletically muscular body. While one workout will work wonderfully for a while, it will lose its effectiveness with time. Once your body makes the necessary changes to meet the challenges of the workout, it stops making changes. This means no more athletic improvement. No more fat loss. And no more functional muscle.
