Singer Nelly’s Busy Workout Fix

When people think of celebrities getting in shape and building attractive bodies, they often think of high paid personal trainers, live in chef’s and all the money and TIME in the world to get in shape. But what happens when the life of a celebrity gets busy and hectic? What happens when the famous actor has to go on a remote shoot far away from gyms and equipment? What happens when the famous singer goes on tour to promote their new CD?

Many busy actors and performers turn to the time tested and always available training method of bodyweight exercises and calisthenics.

The other day I cam across this article: Celebrity Workout: Nelly

Here’s some things the Grammy Award winning rapper Nelly had to say:

QUESTION: “Getting more into the specifics of your workout plan, how many days a week are you in the gym? And during your off days, are you doing any form of exercise?”

NELLY: “I am in the gym about 5 days a week. Again this depends on my schedule. Right now I am promoting my new album, Brass Knuckles, and I’m not able to get into the gym as often as I would like, which is about 2-3 times a week. Regardless, I’ll still do 1,000-1,500 sit-ups and push-ups a day; they’re easy and I don’t need a gym to do them. I also play basketball in my free time — it’s great cardio.”

And later he answered the question:

QUESTION: “If you could pinpoint one change you’ve made with your workouts and diet program since you started that has given you the best results, what would it be?”

NELLY: “I think the one tip I have is to do 1,000-1,500 sit-ups and push-ups a day. You can do them wherever without gym equipment. Start off slow; maybe do 100-200 at a time. Sometimes I’ll wake up, do 100 sit-ups, eat breakfast, and then do 100 more. Start off slow and work your way up. That’s my best advice.”

Now let’s be clear, Nelly does weight lift when he has time. But he doesn’t neglect his bodyweight training. And when time is tight, he can always get in a great bodyweight workout no matter where he is. I think everyone can learn something important from this.

Don’t let the excuses of “lack of equipment” or “lack of time” keep you from doing something every day to keep yourself fit, control your fat and improve your performance.
